Wykeisha Highsmith is the founder of PMH Wellness, L.L.C. She is a national board certified Psychiatric Mental Health Nurse Practitioner (PMHNP-BC) with the American Nurses Credentialing Center (ANCC). She sees all ages and has a sub-specialty working with children and adolescents. Wykeisha has a unique approach towards health management in that she is fueled by the love of God. With this in mind she incorporates empathy and compassion while promoting health, restoration and wellness by treating the full person and associated systems. She believes in balancing the body through a holistic approach. With that being said, she also incorporates traditional medicine at request and/or when warranted.
In 2002, Wykeisha earned a Bachelor’s of Science in Nursing from Howard University. In 2006, she earned a Master’s degree from Yale University School of Nursing (YSN) in Child and Adolescent Psychiatric & Mental Health Nursing. In 2011, she returned to Yale and earned a Post-Master’s Certificate in Family Psychiatric Mental Health Nursing, of which allows her to see all ages. She is a prudent practitioner in the evaluation and treatment of the full spectrum of mental health conditions. She specializes in complex trauma, emotional neglect, abandonment, chronic stress, ADHD, psychotic disorders, bipolar disorders and obsessive compulsive behavior. Academic and research interests include brain-based research, alternative interventions for brain health, and the integration of physical and mental health medicine
Wykeisha thrives by helping others! She enjoys all aspects of helping individuals achieve their optimal level of health and wellness. Guided by Faith, she treats each person as an individual and she strives to provide excellence, empathy and great compassion. In providing psychiatric services (e.g. psychiatric evaluations, medication management), she utilizes an integrative approach and incorporates the following: Holistic care, Neuro-biology, integrative laboratory studies, psychoneuroendocrinology, psychosocial wellness, spiritual wellness, referrals and other psychiatric and mental health elements and assessment tools. Through collaboration with each individual, she develops targeted treatment recommendations that will promote and restore health and wellness. In doing so she includes the following interventions: Vitamins and herbal supplementation, extended laboratory tests, nutrition psychiatry, prescription medications (psychopharmacology), nutrition, exercise, evidence-based treatment, alternative therapies, referrals (e.g. functional medicine), and many others.
Wykeisha is married to a supportive husband. The two enjoy spending time with family, hosting game nights, cooking and most of all they enjoy chasing after their 2 y.o. son "DJ" and their fur baby "Chase". Dr. Ernie Fletcher serves as the Senior Medical Advisor of PMH Wellness, L.L.C. working with Wykeisha Highsmith, Founder and CEO, to provide a holistic approach to behavioral and physical health and wellbeing incorporating holistic, integrative medicine principles.
Dr. Ernie Fletcher also serves as Chief Medical Officer of the Fletcher Group, Inc., a nonprofit, with a mission “to help the most vulnerable in our society move from addiction and homelessness to lives of dignity and fulfillment.” He has served as a Senior Medical Advisor and acting Chief Health Officer at Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC) where he established the CDC Health and Well-being Counsel. He also served as the CEO of Alton Healthcare, LLC, a company that provides prevention and wellness protocols for primary care as well as practice management, revenue cycle management, credentialing and IT support. As part of Alton’s prevention focus, he founded LiveOn Medical Centers, recently sold to Piedmont Healthcare, which provided a holistic and integrative approach to behavioral health, wellness and prevention with a special emphasis on therapeutic lifestyle modification and cardiometabolic disease including microvascular disease and insulin resistance.
Dr. Fletcher served as a US Air Force fighter pilot, family physician, state legislator, and United States Congressman before serving as Governor of the Commonwealth of Kentucky from 2003-‐-2007.
Prior to going into politics and serving the people of Kentucky, he worked as a family medicine physician in Lexington from 1987-‐-1998, including serving two years as CEO of the Saint Joseph Medical Foundation.
Dr. Fletcher served three terms from 1998-‐-2003 as a United States Congressman, from the 6th District in Kentucky. In Congress, he served as a member of the House Committees on Energy and Commerce and was selected to chair the Policy Subcommittee on Healthcare.
Dr. Fletcher received his B.S. degree from the University of Kentucky College of Engineering in 1974 and later graduated from the University of Kentucky College of Medicine in 1984. He currently resides in Georgia with his wife, Glenna. They have two children and eight grandchildren.
